World of Golf

I come from a golf home. Mom and dad played golf and we got opportunities to swing on the greens at times. I did take a liking to it because it meant spending quality time with the parents and enjoying lunch dates with them at the club house.

I am still in the stages of trying to figure out what the boys really enjoy in terms of sports and on the social aspect of life and there is no harm in steering them into the golf direction to see what they discover there. I took them to World of Golf in Woodmead and they got to enjoy with their grandad. You can go as a day visitor or become a member to enjoy the awesome benefits that include pro classes, gym and a spa.

Situated there is Dimples Cafe that has live music on the weekends and a delicious golf inspired menu. The beautiful kiddies play area is a dream come true for parents because it has child minders so you can go on and enjoy your activities.

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Trunki SA

Thank you so much to Trunki SA for such a speedy delivery of our prize! The Twins are super excited yaaaayyyy!!!

➡️ Amadeus is wearing a Puddle Jumper that never deflates and assists children that are learning to swim by promoting floating.

➡️ Adeodatus is wearing a Paddle Pack that happens to be a water resistant backpack. I personally love this because I have had moments where we carried a backpack of clothes that got wet at a pool party and we couldn’t change.

Is my Dad in Heaven

My journey as a single mother is quite complex. I tried the co-parenting thing and it seems I complicated things by getting involved with the father of my kids. Yes that’s right, I formed what I thought was the greatest alliance ever. We could still raise our kids together and sort of have a relationship of our own. A part of me ‘loved’ him enough to lay my all for him and the Twins. I made sure a relationship between them was possible even if I had to fight to make sure he saw them. Then now I ask myself, why should I have to ‘make’ it happen? Isn’t he supposed to just want to see them?

So in July we had the Twins birthday and the dad was very much involved. It always makes me happy seeing the Twins happy, they loved how hands on their dad was and best part he bought them bicycles that they had been wanting for a very long time yaaaaayyy!!!! There are events that I will disclose in a different post that transpired and left a very deep toxic wedge in my relationship with the dad. Dude why you gotta keep the Twins bicycles though????

Since then, he has not spoken to or seen the Twins. It started with excuses of work and would opt for the helper to look after them while I went to school the weekend. The Twins would call from their mobile number and there was never an answer. They would leave voicemails expressing how they miss him and asking then begging to see him. No call or voicemail has ever been returned. I have always reassured these brokenhearted sad faced babies, telling them how he ‘is at work’.

Amadeus asked me if I could buy them a new daddy? Why would my 6 year old son have such a request? His answer was because their dad has forgotten them. Adeodatus continues to want to call even if there is no answer but he is on the verge of giving  up. He said maybe we must just leave him alone because why is he not calling us? I told him he is probably busy and he said maybe he just doesn’t want us anymore! My heart shattered into a million pieces and I told him that is not true. The deal breaker, Amadeus asked me if the dad went to heaven??? How do I answer that honest, desperate question? My eyes flooded with tears as I asked him why he would ask this question? His answer was simple, he has forgotten us and doesn’t love us anymore. I choked on my own words as I told him that the dad does love him (I was choking because even I don’t know that anymore). I gave so many big hugs and kisses to him and told him how much I love him too.

I am not perfect, I’m so far from it but I try to be there for my children the best that I can. They will still always want even if its 0.05% from him which I cannot guarantee they will get but I will give them my 100%.

Tree Top Adventures

There are so many fun filled, adventurous outdoor venues in Johannesburg. I found a fantastic one!!!

The Twins birthday was creeping up on me and I had to do some serious homework to make sure their party was different from all the others they had. Treetop Adventures provides different courses/packages for different age groups so you find that your ‘big kid’ will also be catered to by the activities.

As a party venue, It is magical. We had a covered spaced that faced the dam and zip-lining is done just over the same dam. We had opted for self catering so we hired a braai stand, brought our charcoal and our forest braai was on. Catering services are also an option even party decor and setting up.

The Twins took on the Course below:

Woodpecker Course (Purple)

Age: Children aged 3 – 7 years
Obstacles: 10
Zip-lines: 2
The Woodpecker course is constructed with platforms at an average height of 1.2m above ground to enable adult assistance where necessary. This course builds confidence and independence in young Tree Top Adventurers as they move from platform to platform across various challenging obstacles and two zip-lines.

WWF #ForNatureForYou Party

Friday 30 November 2018 was such a beautiful evening for me. I walked through the doors of WWF (World Wide Fund) For Nature Braamfontein offices and had pictures taken immediately like a red carpet event then directed straight to the rooftop already with the new Hansa Golden Crisp Beer in hand. My friends and I couldn’t help but wow at the bar and the pattern projector that had a whimsical display I had to capture.

Being who I am I jumped straight into the vibe that was being dished out by Dj Zai Maya who was on the decks! Cocktails were flying around and good food too. Everyone was on their feet, the mood was just set #positivevibes! I walked around getting a feel of the environment, like you know when you just really want it all to soak in? I bumped into Natasha one of the organizers from WWF and I introduced myself as the girl who submitted the half naked outdoor shower picture and it was a buzz. She made me feel an electric energy, there was no stopping me.

Before we knew it, Slikour was in the building presenting Reason HD to us who was launching his new track Back to The Source and shooting the music video yaaayyy!!! So there is a chance you will catch a glimpse of me in the video.

We had such a lovely time and when leaving, we got surprise goodie bags!!! Township Patterns which supports women entrepreneurship in Cape Town township communities sells re-usable bags which we received including an aluminium travel mug, a wooden key-ring plus a bamboo straw.

What connects you to nature? I love the outdoors and nature so there is no surprise that I would jump into an outdoor shower in the middle of the bush. #ForNatureForYou

Global Citizen Festival SA (Mandela 100)

I had the honor of attending such a prestigious event, please ladies and gentlemen give a round of applause for Global Citizen Festival SA!!! Millions of people around the world are taking action against poverty which was one of Mandela’s visions. Over 5.65M actions led to 58 commitments and announcements worth $7,207,436,824 (ZAR 163,089,720,094), set to affect the lives of 137,368,628 people.

This amazing celebration was graced by some of the greatest artists just to name a few: Usher, Pharell Williams, Femi Kuti, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, Chris Martin (Coldplay), Sho Madjozi, Casper Nyovest and the most anticipated performance was delivered by the Carters Beyonce and Jay Z. There were heads of states that also attended including our very own Cyril Ramaphosa, Paul Kagame of Rwanda and more. Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Dave Chappelle, Danai Gurira, Treveor Noah, Bonang Matheba and the list is endless, were all there.

I was lucky enough to have been caught on camera a few times at the event and i was chuffed. Any guessing what the best part was for me? Beyonce blew me away and Its an experience that I will never forget. Performances were well executed and the energy in the stadium was just electric. I loved all the acts that brought various genre’s of music and a whole mixed bag of dance moves.

After the whole concert was over, there was a disaster surrounding departure from the area. There was no connectivity so Uber and Taxify apps were crashing. I had a scheduled ride that couldn’t get to us because of the congestion at the pick up point and surrounding areas. We were standing in the cold for a good 2hrs 30mins at the Sasol Garage where people were getting mugged and stampedes were erupting. We got so scared and we were now panic walking in the opposite direction of where our Taxify ride was. I wish there had been more security measures after the concert.

I had a lovely time and a big shout out goes to Nyadzawela for hooking me up such an unimaginable pre-birthday gift. Did any of you go? What did you enjoy the most?

The Twins Grade 1

Wow, how time flies when you’re having fun. So the Twins are going into grade 1 in January and boy am I nervous or what? Not even because I don’t trust the school or anything but it’s a milestone and another step for them towards independence.

Today we went to their school for their orientation so they had a feel of their new classroom, teacher and classmates. I also had a test drive of walking them to big school classroom and already the teacher was reassuring me because she could just see I was a tad bit clingy.

I went off to the hall and I am glad the principal and teachers did the presentation that was informative and reassuring. They shared the below info and more:

  • All the details on how it will work on the first day of school, what I need to do to assist in smooth sailing of this big day.
  • What I need to do when I am unsure and who to talk to if anything arises.
  • A briefing of the rules accompanied by a breakdown that we took home.

I am glad we met and discussed this new partnership of parent and school for the kids. I feel comfortable and so did the Twins that I found doing some coloring at the end. They got to kept the crayons and were telling me how they received cupcakes and juice from their teacher. They did not want to leave their classroom and I pray this spirit stays alive even during winter mornings when they need to wake up for school.

What is your childs recent milestone, are you also taking your child to a new grade, big school or even just change of school? How do you feel about it?
